Purpose and Scope of Framework


  •          Curb the trend of many students failing multiple classes
  •          Improve College Readiness Rates for students taking the ACT
  •           Improve College Readiness Rates for students not meeting benchmark on the ACT by the end of their junior year by providing additional ACT Prep.
  •         Improve Career Readiness Rates for students on Career Pathways on their Industry Certification Exam, Career and Technical Education (CTE) End-of-Program Assessment, and apprenticeship
  •          Improve overall school achievement




  •          Initial placement for 9th grade specific skills interventions: MAP
  •          Placement for 10th & 11th grade specific skills interventions:  CERT ACT Scrimmages
  •         Placement for transition readiness Tier II interventions:  CERT ACT Scrimmages and ACT test scores
  •          Placement for behavior interventions is based on ARC documentation for the PASS program


Tiered interventions


Tier I/ Core Instruction

  • Alignment of Kentucky Core and Quality Core Content
  • Evidence-based instruction provided to all students
  • Formative assessments for College Readiness progress monitoring integrating flashbacks, bellringers, exit slips, and timed ACT learning checks
  • Co-teachers, Bonner Volunteers and Teacher Assistants in classrooms for additional differentiated instruction along with the integration of technology
  • Formative assessments for Career Readiness progress monitoring integrating  WIN Learning Program.

Tier II

  •          Learning Lab:  Pull out sessions with intensive instruction to improve student comprehension for reading and math and test taking skills (May be during a virtual lab period or Power Hour)
  •        Power Hour: Teacher referrals for additional instruction for students who are struggling, failing, or have missing assignments
  •        Before and/or after school ESS services offered for struggling students
  •           Counseling services for students with emotional and behavioral issues

 Tier III


  •        Daily Reading intervention classes available utilizing iReady and Reading Plus for struggling readers in all grade levels.
  •        Daily online Transitional English and Reading classes with a certified instructor for students who have not met benchmarks on the ACT by senior year.
  •       Daily math intervention class available utilizing iReady and ALEKS for struggling math learners in all grade levels.
  •         Transitional Math Classroom for students who have not met benchmarks by senior year.
  •         Algebra Readiness and Algebra I as a two year program for struggling math students.
  • Academic Recovery for Drop-Out Prevention
  • Referral to the Indian Academy or PASS program for behavioral issues
  • CHOICES program for drop-out prevention

Progress Monitoring


  •          ACT Scrimmages for all students are administered and charted for progress three times a year through CERT and GradeCam.
  •          Tier II progress monitoring – CERT, Reading Plus, Study Island, iReady, WINLearning, ALEKS
  •          Monitoring tools in use:  Reading Plus, Study Island, PASS, WIN Learning, ACT CERT Scrimmages, and Odysseyware

Data-based decision making


  •          Individual Student Data Analysis used by teachers to differentiate instruction during full classroom and small group interventions.
  •          Teachers consult in PLC's along with the ACHS Personalized Learning Team about all students.
  •          Data is examined after each CERT and ACT assessment to determine whether the student exits or enters Tier II interventions.
  •          Professional Learning Team meetings are held to review strategies for individual student progress.
  •         Teacher referrals for individual students to Power Hour, Learning Lab and/or Extended School Services based on data and classroom
