I was born and raised in Columbia, KY and graduated from Adair County High School in 1992.  I am married to my high school sweetheart, Michael Loy.   Michael is the District Judge for the 29th Judicial District.  We have three children; Amber, JT, and Ashley. My parents, Steve and Joyce Cheatham,  are both retired teachers from the Adair County School District. When I am not busy at school, I enjoy spending time with my amily, attending ,my kids sporting events, traveling, going to Magic Kingdom at Disney World, and attending Columbia United Methodist Church; where I volunteer at Children's Church.

 

I received a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of Kentucky,  and a Master's Degree in Secondary School Counseling from Western Kentucky University.  I also completed a Rank I in School Counseling. My first teaching job was at Central Hardin High School; then I got married, moved to Bowling Green and taught at Auburn Middle School in Logan County. I also taught at Warren East High School in Bowling Green before moving back to Columbia in 2002.  I then taught at Metcalfe County High School until 2006, and then returned to Columbia teach at Adair County High School.  I taught Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II until 2013 before taking the position as the College and Career Readiness Counselor for Adair County Schools.
