November/December: Government & Civics (Articles of Confederation, A New Plan of Government, A New Constitution)
January/February: Finish U.S. Government & Civics Education; Forming A New Nation/Early Republic Era (The Federalist Era; The Jefferson Era; War of 1812)
February/March: Westward Expansion/Westward Movement (Manifest Destiny)
March/April/May: The North and The South (comparing, sectionalism); The Civil War and Reconstruction Era; End-of-Year Review
May--End of School Year: Testing
GRADING POLICY for 8th grade social studies/U.S. History Classes:
Tests = 60% - combined average of all tests & summative assessments make up 60% of the overall term grade for social studies class
Daily work/assignments = 40% - combined average of all daily work and other assignments make up 40% of the overall term grade
