The past few years I have been teaching Practical Living and Career Studies here at Adair County Middle School. This class includes a lot of different real life content that makes it interesting to teach. We discuss many of todays' health issues that are affecting our society. We begin looking at the various opportunities that are out there in the career world as we begin working on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). We develop their ILP and review them each year to make changes as needed. They do a lot of self evaluating through various inventories where they can begin to match their interest to careers. I also teach financial literacy such as budgeting and banking standards that the students will need in the real world.
I received my Bachelors degree from Lindsey Wilson College in Elementary Education in Math and English. I went on to pursue my Masters in Exceptional Education and Rank 1 in School Counseling from Western Kentucky University.
I am married to Darrell Carter and we have two children, Mason and Carli. I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my kids play sports.
