Course Objectives: The goal of this course is to familiarize students with the science of

agriculture and will incorporate pertinent principles from biology, chemistry, health and related

disciplines. Upon completion of this course, students should be knowledgeable in basic plant and

animal science principals. Students will also become familiar with current issues in agriculture.

Text: There is no text for this course, however you will need reliable Internet access to receive

the course information via Blackboard as well as to utilize web resources identified by the

instructor as assigned reading. Loss of Internet connection is not acceptable during quizzes, therefore you should be CERTAIN that your internet provider is reliable and that your connection is as well. There are no circumstances in which you should attempt to submit graded material through your iPhone, including quizzes and documents.

To take this Online Course and succeed:

    1. You must be familiar with Blackboard, the University’s online course-management and delivery program. If you are not, please contact the University’s Information Technology Website.

    2. You must be able to view Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Word files.

    3. We are covering a semester’s worth of information in four weeks, so you should plan on spending a significant amount of time every day with your computer, participating in class. The learning is asynchronous so you do not have to be in front of your computer at the same time that I am, however, there will be discussion board activity with deadlines, due dates for participation in discussion and

completion of assignments, and units of material released on a timed basis such that keeping up will be essential.

Tip: Make it a habit to check your Blackboard site for assignments, course documents, discussions

and other material pertinent to this class from the first day of class to the last.

If you should need to speak with me in person, please call my cell phone (270/202-5639) any
