The past few years I have been teaching Practical Living and Career Studies here at Adair County Middle School. This class includes alot of different real life content that makes it interesting to teach. We discuss many of todays' health issues that are affecting our society. We begin looking at the various opportunities that are out there in the career world as we begin working on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). We begin their ILP in the 6th grade and we reflect and review them each year and make changes as needed. This is a computer based program where the students begin thinking about things that they are interested in and they research careers that match their interests. I can also incorporate math while teaching career education along with health and fitness while I teach some consumerism.
I received my Bachelors degree from Lindsey Wilson College in Elementary Education and my Masters in Exceptional Education and Rank 1 in School Counseling from Western Kentucky University.
My husband and I have lived in Columbia Kentucky all our life. We have two children, Mason and Carli Ann. I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my kids play sports.
