*The Family Resource Center is a part of the Adair County School System.
*Centers were created as a part of the Kentucky Education Reform Act of 1990.
*This center serves students and families of Adair County Primary Center.
*The center has an advisory council made up of parents, school staff, and community representatives.
Center Services and Programs
After School Child Care:
*Camp Rocket Summer Program
*Referrals to after school, summer day, and overnight summer programs/camps which may include:
FRC, Camp Casey, Salvation Army, Public Library, and Sheriff's Ranch.
*Referrals to Child Care Council Child Care Assistance Program for supportive services and to connect with local Licensed Child Care Centers.
*Supplies for Camp Kindergarten during the summer for school readiness
Preschool Child Care:
*Early Childhood Council materials and programs available for kindergarten readiness
*Referrals to Child Care Council Child Care Assistance Program as mentioned above
Families in Training:
*Community Baby Fair
*Smart Parenting classes at Agape House Pregnancy Resource Center
*Referrals to Health Department HANDS Program for home visitation
*United Way Born Learning Academy driven by Toyota workshops for Kindergarten readiness
*Referrals to Adair County Adult Education Center for GED or other available Family programs
*Parent Involvement Activities such as Bingo for Books with Grandparents/Grand persons, Family Math afternoon, Family Geography afternoon, Build a Book, Family Science afternoon, and Family Literacy Night (collaborate with Title I and 21st Century Camp Casey)
*Grand Group Grandparents Support Group
*Family Reading Nights at Public Library
*Rocket Men Program (Male Role Models volunteering to read, mentor, eat, or assist with a child)
*Nurse at Adair County Primary Center daily
*Downey Eye Clinic referrals for eyeglasses, eye exams, eyeglass repairs
*Classroom Education on Healthy topics such as L.E.A.P. (Literacy, Eating, and Physical Activity) for Kindergarten and on other healthy topics such as hygiene, nutrition, tobacco prevention, safety, and physical activity
*Farm Safety Day for 1st graders
*Red Ribbon Week Drug Prevention activities
*Referrals to Adanta In-School Counselor
*Dental Health Education Van (cleanings and screenings) through Cumberland Family Medical Center
*Humana Vitality Screenings for staff
*Social Services programs educational session for grandparents or parents
Educational Support Services:
*Food Pantry referrals
*Shepherd Shop and Goodwill Clothing Vouchers
*Thanksgiving Meals and/or Baskets donated by Community individuals, groups, and/or Churches
*Christmas Angel Tree Program through Salvation Army

*Lending Resource Library of Parenting, Educational and Entertainment Videos/DVD's

*Donated Welfare Funds for various needs such as house fires, gas for out of town Dr.'s appointments, and other emergency needs.
*Home Visits for urgent parent contact re: student medical or personal needs.
*Home Visits are also done with Title I monthly to give school supply packets and/or discuss other student/family needs by connecting community resources available.
*Referrals to Columbia/Adair County Jaycees Christmas Program (food and toys)
*Assist with any family needs to decrease truancy and improve attendance
*Attend local and school meetings to improve communication of school, community, and parents to meet any needs to support student's education
