The Indian Trust Bank hires student employees from the Financial Services Class. During this class, students are on a rotation of classroom learning and work experience. Each rotation is approximately 15 weeks long. Allowing 3 weeks at the beginning of the trimester for hiring and training and 2-3 weeks at the end of the third trimester for closing duties.
Mrs. LeeAnn Collins, Branch Manager and Mrs. Tina Parson, CSR III, from Community Trust Bank, Columbia Kentucky, work diligently each year to train and prepare Financial Services students to perform their jobs in a satisfactory manner. Community Trust Bank is the Sponsoring bank for Adair County High School Indian Trust Bank. Each student is informed of the available positions to be filled within the bank. Students decide what position interest them. They spend time writing resumes and letters of application to Mrs. Collins. Mrs. Collins & teacher/advisor, Ms. Rainwater, schedule two days of interviews with the students. Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Parson interview each student, and then student placement is recommended.
Indian Trust Bank offers $1.00 & $2.00 student lunch loans and savings accounts such as "Prom", "Statement Savings" and "Christmas Clubs". All savings accounts earn 3% APY.
After taking courses in Financial Services I/II, Accounting & Finance Foundations, Computer & Technology Applications, the students will achieve a career major in Finance. During February of each year the KOSSA (Kentucky Occupational Skills Standards Assessment) for Finance is administered to all senior students that have completed the career major in finance. If the assessment is passed, the students receive a certificate of achievement and a letter from KBA (Kentucky Bankers Association). This is a financial industry recognized certification. The KOSSA for finance was developed by KDE (Kentucky Department of Education) in conjunction with KBA (Kentucky Bankers Association).
