This year in 4th grade mathematics, we will be exercising the Kentucky Academic Standards and Eureka Math Curriculum. My goal is to reach as many different learning styles and to have hands-on manipulative's for the students to gain a greater knowledge of the math concepts being taught.
This math may be different than we are all use to, but setting a solid foundation now will only help our students as they advance into the upper grades. Please show support and a positive attitude as we take on this adventure together.
Parents I will let you in on a little secret.........Your child will have homework in math. Below is a brief description of what you should see coming home as homework:
Each Monday, students will receive a review multiplication packet. This packet is to be completed and returned on Thursday of the same week, which is the same day as the multiplication quiz the fact packet is over. Within this packet, students will also have a minimum of three practice quizzes they need to complete at home to be better prepared for the quiz on Thursday. Please encourage your child to work and review the multiplication facts nightly! Please note that students not turning in packet on time, will result in a write-up.
Each Friday, students will be required to scan an AM "Practice" or "Test" packet if they have not previously scanned within the week making a proficient level of 80% or higher. To make sure your child is meeting proficient level, they should scan earlier in the week, rather than later. Please note that students not turning in packet on time, will result in a write-up.
