Six students from Adair County High School are the first students in Kentucky to achieve the Elanco Fundamentals of Animal Science Certification.
The certification endorsed by Elanco provides students with a solid understanding of animal science, including the history and practice of the livestock industry, common terms and terminology, and livestock management practices. In addition, the certification addresses major topics in the animal science industry including genetics, reproduction, nutrition, and health management.
The certification consists of 18 modules and a 100-question final certification exam. The certification can be used toward career readiness classification at the high school. For many students, this can be the starting point for a successful career in the animal science industry. ACHS started offering certification in both animal science and plant science this year.
